Seminar 2 - Don Passey and Colin RogersThe purpose of the day is for participants to continue our engagement with the general question: Can current theories of motivation inform practice in educational contexts? More particularly we will engage with issues arising from a consideration of the relationship between those theories and the practices around the use of ICT in the classroom and other educationally relevant settings (in particular attempts to use ICT to re-engage young people who have disengaged from education or are at risk of so doing). Our discussions will attempt to provide an appropriate focus on both the degree to which current theories of motivation may inform ICT related practice and the degree to which those practices (and observations thereof) may inform the development of theory. The emphasis will be on discussion so even the keynote will leave plenty of room for questions. Seminar papersThe paper attached here has been written by Ros McClellan and Richard Remedios. It was written to provide useful background for the seminar discussions initially in Cambridge. Please feel free to download a copy even if you are not registered to attend the seminar.
