Can current theories of motivation inform practice in educational contexts?

Seminar series sponsored by the British Psychological Society

British Psychological Society

Seminar 2 - Don Passey and Colin Rogers

The purpose of the day is for participants to continue our engagement with the general question: Can current theories of motivation inform practice in educational contexts? More particularly we will engage with issues arising from a consideration of the relationship between those theories and the practices around the use of ICT in the classroom and other educationally relevant settings (in particular attempts to use ICT to re-engage young people who have disengaged from education or are at risk of so doing). Our discussions will attempt to provide an appropriate focus on both the degree to which current theories of motivation may inform ICT related practice and the degree to which those practices (and observations thereof) may inform the development of theory.

The emphasis will be on discussion so even the keynote will leave plenty of room for questions.
