£2 million postgraduate funding now available

FASS is offering £2 million of postgraduate funding for entry from October 2012. Awards are available in the following subject areas: Art, Creative Writing, Criminology, Cultural Studies, Design, Educational Research, English Language and Literature, European Languages and Cultures, Film, History, Law, Linguistics, Media, Music, Philosophy, Politics, Religious Studies, Social Work, Sociology, and Theatre Studies. Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Lancaster continue to advance in League Table Rankings

Lancaster University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has again advanced its position in the UK 2012 Complete University Guide.  Rankings in the 2012 league table have improved or been maintained for the following disciplines: English (14th); History (18th); Law (16th); Linguistics ranked 1st in the UK; Media Studies (13th); Music (18th) ; Philosophy (17th); Politics (32nd); Religious Studies (7th); Social Work ranked 2nd in the UK;  and Sociology (7th).

Top 60 position in the world for Sociology, Linguistics, Politics and English

Social Sciences at Lancaster University is ranked 84th and 122nd for Arts and Humanities in the QS World University Rankings published on Monday 5 September 2011 with some individual subjects listed in the top 60 including Sociology ranked 49th and Linguistics 43rd.  Find out more in Lancaster University News.

Lancaster University to lead one of four AHRC Knowledge Exchange Hubs

LICA BuildingLancaster University will lead one of four AHRC Knowledge Exchange Hubs, as part of £16m funding for the UK Creative Economy. This Lancaster led hub called The Creative Exchange will include collaboration with the BBC, Microsoft, TATE Liverpool, SAGE Gateshead, Opera North, NESTA, Lancaster City Council, the Storey Creative Industries Centre, FutureEverything and over 30 small and medium sized companies working in the sector, such as Stardotstar.
