Debate on the ethical, legal and social aspects of genetics using the esymbio websiteDate: 9 November 2005 Time: 12noon - 1.00pm Speaker: Dr Andrew C Rose, North West Genetics Knowledge Park (Nowgen) Venue: MR1 (A08), Institute for Advanced Studies Abstract: The rapid development of the field of human genetics has stimulated extensive debate on its ethical, legal and social aspects. However, geographical, temporal and other constraints limit discourse between interested parties and the identification of information on new developments. The North West Genetics Knowledge Park (Nowgen) undertakes a range of projects which ensure that developments in human genetic research benefit society. So, to overcome the constraints to debate mentioned above, Nowgen and other interested individuals have formed the Genetics, Ethics, Law and Society (GELS) community in the esymbio website. Using this website, individuals have access to a range of tools that promote discussion and simplify information retrieval. All welcome. Contact: Who can attend:
