Northern Englishes Workshop

Date: 30 March - 1 April 2006

The Department of Linguistics and English Language is organising the first Northern Englishes Workshop in recognition of the rapidly increasing value of reasearch on English varieties spoken in the North of England and Scotland. Participants from most of the universities in the region will present papers on phonology, syntax, sociolinguistics and dialectology, using a broad base of methodologies which, because of their grounding in natural speech, will nevertheless allow for a degree of integration of perspectives.
