The Department hosted a three-day conference on 'Religion and Gender' at Lancaster on 11-13 th April 2005. The conference was organised by Linda Woodhead at the invitation of the British Sociological Association's Study Group for the Sociology of Religion. Funding was provided by the Lancaster Faculty of Social Sciences and the British Academy. The conference attracted over 100 participants, and helped set a new agenda for the sociology of religion. Selected conference papers are to be included in a book entitled Religion and Gender to be published by Ashgate in 2007.
