IAS Workshop - Knowledge Work and the OrganisationDate: 19-20 July 2006 Time: 10.30 am The proposition that 'knowledge work', 'knowledge workers' and 'knowledge-intensive-organisations' have become defining features of advanced capitalist political economies and societies is now taken as axiomatic. The purpose of this workshop was to explore these concepts and their relevance for understanding and explaining the key economic, technological, political and cultural changes associated with the emergence of the 'knowledge-based economy and society'. The workshop generated a more sceptical, not to say critical, evaluation of the ideological, theoretical and empirical interventions that have promoted the conception of a 'new political economy.'
