CESAGen 4th International Conference

Date: 26 March 2007 Time: 8.30 pm

Title: Genomics and Society: Retrospects and ProspectsVenue: The Royal Society, LondonDate: 26th - 28th March 2007This conference will provide an opportunity for the genomics social science community to take stock and celebrate its successes, through reviewing its findings and their implications. It will question what has been discovered, the implications of these results, and the new questions they raise. In doing so it will engage the many associated stakeholders and policy makers in debating and formulating the directions in which future social science research should turn. There will be international plenary and keynote speakers discussing:

• Engaging stakeholders in social science research
• Policies for sustainability
• Media representations
• Multiple bio-economies

Other key topics will include:

• Changing forms of knowledge production
• Public engagement with the biosciences
• Health, medicine and genomics

Call for Papers

Please send a short (max 250 word) abstract of your paper, which should fall into one of the seven themes mentioned above or the overarching conference theme of Retrospects and Prospects, to the Organising Committee by 20th November 2006. You will be informed about acceptance by 22nd December 2006. Please send your abstract with full details of the authors in Word format by email to cesagen@cardiff.ac.uk

This will be a conference of high profile public speeches, round tables, outreach events and an academic programme. It will include the launch of the Routledge: 'Genetics and Society' Book Series. More details will be available soon.
