IAS/IEED Workshop - Social Capital and its Relevance to Entrepreneurship

Date: 18-19 November 2004

The workshop on Social Capital and its Relevance to Entrepreneurship took place at Lancaster University on 18-19 November 2004 and was a joint IAS/ Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development event involving colleagues from Lancaster and elsewhere in the UK.

Key themes explored included:

  • Social capital as an ideal theme for multi-disciplinary, trans-disciplinary and post-disciplinary study.
  • Relationships between social capital and entrepreneurial behaviour.
  • Benefits of exploring social capital from different perspectives: Entrepreneurship, Business history, history and social policy, sociology, management science.
  • Potential future research directions.
