Spiritual Identities

Date: 5-6 November 2004

Spiritual Identities, a highly successful conference focusing on literary and cultural constructions of religious subjectivity, was held at the University Conference Centre on 5-6 November 2004. Organised by Dr Andrew Tate and Dr Jo Carruthers of the Department of English & Creative Writing, the conference included keynote addresses by Zygmunt Baman, Sara Maitland and John Schad and attracted delegates from America, Britain, Canada , Egypt, Israel, Finland and Poland . It showcased the work of several members of the Department, establishing literature and spiritual identities as one of its distinctive fields of research.
