Don Passey, Dept Educational ResearchDate: 17 January 2007 Time: 4.00 pm Department of Educational Research Seminar Title:Interactive Whiteboards: are they a motivational gimmick or a valuablelearning asset? Location: Library Seminar Room 2 Abstract: Comments from primary and secondary teachers and advisers in LAs about the value of interactive whiteboards differ widely; some teachers feel that they have enabled them to support pupil learning more effectively, while others feel they just have to use them because of the costs involved. There are indications of benefits from an existing literature, but benefits are often fairly loosely indicated. This seminar will explore findings from a range of recent studies that offer some more precise indicators of impacts, while raising further questions about the relationships of interactive whiteboard features to teacher and learner approaches and interactions.
