Arthur Chapman, St Martins CollegeDate: 28 February 2007 Time: 4.00 pm Department of Educational Research Seminar NB POSTPONED The date for this seminar has had to be rearranged - a new date will be announced as soon as possible Title:Making Sense of History: A Case Study Location: IAS MR Abstract:My doctoral research focuses on 16-19 year old history students approaches to conflicts of historical interpretation. I have taken a case study approach, focusing in depth on the ideas of 24 students in one institution, and adopted a strategy of inductive coding using Nvivo. This seminar will report my conclusions and the manner in which they are grounded in qualitative data. My conclusions will be of interest to historians and history educators.
