CeMoRe Seminar - Mobility, ubiquity and technological mediationDate: 20 March 207 Time: 4.15 pm CeMoRe Seminar Tuesday 20 March 2007 4.15pm to 6.00pm, IAS MR1 "Mobility, ubiquity and technological mediation" Guiseppina Pellegrino, University of Calabria, Italy. Abstract - Mobile and ubiquitous devices increasingly change the way we move, allowing us to stay in touch with 'distant others' and connecting with the surrounding environment through pervasive sociotechnical networks. The way these devices are envisaged and appropriated tells us how mobility is inextricably intertwined with multiple sociotechnical assemblies which transform and support it. The seminar will address issues at the crossroad of mobility, ubiquity and technological mediation, in order to draw a background of how mediated interaction in everyday life is both mobile and ubiquitous. Beside analyzing a set of theoretical concepts,to frame the relationships between technology, interaction and mobility, some hypotheses for empirical research design will be proposed.
