Open Day: David DabydeenDate: 31 May 2007 Time: 1.00 - 7.30 pm Open Day Invitation: We very much hope you can come to theOpen Day that willinaugurate theCentre for Transcultural Writing and Research: Thursday 31st May, 1 pm - 7.30 pm, Institute for Advanced Studies Critic, poet and novelist David Dabydeen will be the guest reader at this all-day event, the last in the Trans-Scriptions seminar series (2006-07), which has brought together creative writers and academics to explore issues of writing, culture and location. Trans-Scriptions is part of a widening panorama of research projects that are focused in regions as geographically and culturally diverse as the UK and Africa. Lancaster University's new Centre for Transcultural Writing and Research aims to create a transnational and interdisciplinary environment that will promote the generation and study of creative writing across cultures.Our May Open Daywill showcase the various projects brought together with the launch of the Centre: Trans-Scriptions,Crossing Borders, Radiophonics and Moving Manchester: Mediating Marginalities.
