Connect 5: The inter-relationships between young people, families, education, careers and their world
Date: 26 September 2007 Time: 10.00am - 04.00pm
This conference will explore the importance of working with, and listening to a wide range of families' hopes and concerns. Using practice and research we will consider the importance of, and challenges associated with, valuing the diverse views of families, potential students, teachers, FE, HE and LA practitioners and policy makers.
Workshops include:
- Working with families through the extended school programmes
- Working with families - the view from HEre (i.e. centralised schools and colleges liaison)
- Connecting with Connexions for engaging with families
- 'This Ability' disabled learners and their parents making and exploring the hidden connections
- Innovative ways of connecting: communicating with parents
- Working with parents within the summer school programmes
- Creative and cultural connections - an Aimhigher partnership working with families
- College collaboration to involve parents in career informed progression
