The Role of NGOs in GovernanceDate: 21 September 2007 Time: 9.30am Conference Centre, Lancaster University This event will explore the role of non-governmental organisations in policy-making in three arenas: the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United Nations. Drawing on the personal experiences of speakers as national and international policy-makers, campaigners for change, and observers of the process it will examine the place of non-governmental organisations in the policy-making process. Registrations are welcome particularly from those in academia with an interest in governance as well as non-governmental organisations and policy-makers themselves. The conference will provide an opportunity for all sides to exchange successes, failures, lessons learnt and future aspirations as well as identifying the current trends, benefits and challenges of non-governmental participation. Contact Dr Israel de Jesus Butler for more information. This event is co-sponsored by the Institute of Advanced Studies, Centre for Law and Society at Lancaster and the Lancaster Politics and International Relations Department.
