ESOL in the WorkplaceDate: 4 October 2007 Time: 10am -1.30pm An opportunity to network, share experiences and explore the issues around ESOL in the Workplace. This event for practitioners and managers explores the most overwhelming issue facing providers this year and next year. It is the sheer volume of demand and how best to deliver this. Demand is greatest at Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 2 and includes increasing requests for ESOL for citizenship. For many, learning English is a matter of urgency. Migrant workers recognise the need to communicate with local populations and are over-represented amongst the unemployed and low paid. However, the demand for ESOL far outstrips supply in many regions. This event provides examples of experience and good practice, a forum for discussion, and will consider the implications for ESOL delivery in the post-Leitch landscape. Keynote Speakers John Tempest, Director of Skills for Life South West Region, South West Skills for Life Unit, LSC South West. Barbara Smith, Head of Learning & Skills Strategy and Development, South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA). Workshops Each delegate will have the opportunity to attend 2 different workshops, during the morning.
