CESAGen is a joint Cardiff / Lancaster ESRC research Centre for research on social, economic, ethical and policy aspects of developments in genomics and related biosciences, including proteomics. [i] The overall Director is Professor Ruth Chadwick, Cardiff; Brian Wynne, Professor of Science Studies, is CESAGen Associate Director at Lancaster.
FASS and CESAGen have invited Dr Richard Rogers to demonstrate a suite of digital research tools that have been specifically designed for humanities and social science research on the web.
Richard Rogers is head of New Media at the University of Amsterdam; director of the Govcom.org Foundation; director of the Digital Methods Initiative at the TEMLab, University of Amsterdam; author of award-winning Information Politics on the Web (MIT Press, 2004).
He will demonstrate how these tools, which include the IssueCrawler, can be used to:
locate emergent networked publics; identify issues and NGO attention cycles; monitor search engine website rankings over time; discover censored web sites; map web content, including images.
