Philosophy of Psychiatry WIP WorkshopDate: 10 January 2008 Time: 11.00am Philosophy of Psychiatry WIP Workshop 10th January 2008 Lancaster University, UK Supported by the British Society for the Philosophy of Science The workshop aims to enable both PhD students and established researchers working in the philosophy of psychiatry to share work in progress papers. This event is free and open to anyone who is conducting research in the philosophy of psychiatry. Places are limited however. Please email Rachel Cooper r.v.cooper@lancaster.ac.uk. Confirmed speakers: Natalie Banner (UCLAN) - Dementia and the space of reasons Charlotte Blease (Belfast) - Scientific reasoning, folk reasoning, and PTSD Lisa Bortolotti (Birmingham) - Thought-insertion: memory and self-knowledge Matthew Broome (Warwick) Virtual reality as a tool to study paranoia: how natural is the natural attitude? Rachel Cooper (Lancaster) - Psychiatry and reductionism Zoe Drayson (Bristol) - Extended cognition and Alzheimer's Tim Thornton (UCLAN) - On Empathy Floris Tomasinni (Lancaster/UCLAN) - Are certain motivations towards suicide understandable and justifiable? Miffy Williams (Manchester) - Dealing with plurality in explanation of depression Some more slots for papers are available.
