Sociology Departmental Seminar

Date: 18 March 2008 Time: 4.15 - 6.00

Objects of movement: the aesthetic reflex of a new rationality?

The paper will present an account of the movement of objects in the global culture industry in terms of a new rationality. Starting with a brief biography of Trainspotting', the paper will describe how objects are constituted in movement, and proposes a topological understanding of that movement in terms of indexicality, series, and a surface which is a space in itself.
