Sociology Departmental SeminarDate: 18 March 2008 Time: 4.15 - 6.00 Objects of movement: the aesthetic reflex of a new rationality?
The paper will present an account of the movement of objects in the global culture industry in terms of a new rationality. Starting with a brief biography of Trainspotting', the paper will describe how objects are constituted in movement, and proposes a topological understanding of that movement in terms of indexicality, series, and a surface which is a space in itself. Celia Lury (Department of Sociology, Goldsmiths College) All graduate students, members of staff and visiting researchers are cordially invited to attend the Departmental seminars, to be held on Tuesdays at 4.15 - 6:00pm in IAS Meeting Room 1 (unless otherwise stated).
