This is the first in a series of Occasional Data Analysis seminars and will take place on Wednesday 6th February from 2.30 - 4.30 in C26, County South.
Phenomenographic analysis was developed specifically as a way of examining variation in the ways in which students and teachers experience aspects of the teaching and learning process, although it has since been applied to many other contexts. In this seminar, I will briefly introduce phenomenography as a way of investigating teaching and learning before outlining the findings of a recent phenomenographic study that I have undertaken into students' conceptions of tutorials. Participants will then have the opportunity to work in groups to undertake their own phenomenographic analysis of some interview data. Finally, we will discuss the possibilities and problems that are faced by researchers wishing to undertake phenomenographic research
