Venue: Bowland North A41

This topic will be introduced by Dr Agata Fijalkowski (Law School) and will be based on a paper that she is due to present at a conference in July.

Abstract: This paper examines the jurisprudence of Central and Eastern European courts concerning the death penalty. Clearly membership in the Council of Europe has played a role in abolition. The paper examines the extent of this institution's role, alongside other factors underlying the respective Court decisions concerning the death penalty in the region.
