Events in April 2003Date: April 2003 ***************** 1 April, all day Open to staff from Faculties of Social Science & Management School, Lancaster University Workshop - Institute for Advanced Social and Management Studies. Tea, coffee, lunch, etc. will be provided. Likely themes for discussion include (but are not confined to): (a) intellectual property, knowledge management, and accounting for knowledge/intellectual assets; (b) knowledge work and knowledge-intensive business services; (c) the learning society and lifelong learning, including learning in the work or organizational context -- including but not confined to issues of adult literacy and numeracy; (d) critical discourse analysis of the knowledge economy in various institutional orders and at various scales -- from OECD and WTO through trade bodies such as WIPO or the European Round Table to different scales of government and different levels of economic organization; (e) social capital, entrepreneurship, and enterprise cultures; (f) new governance mechanisms in the knowledge-economy; (g) transnational and national public-private partnerships -- including their legal and organizational dynamics; and (h) technological, economic, and social aspects of genomics and proteomics (i) politics and religion in a global world In addition to main sessions, there will be opportunities for breakout sessions to explore potential research collaboration in more detail. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 3-4 April, 2003 Centre for Science Studies: Workshop on Boundaries: Materialities, Differences, Continuities Jointly sponsored by the Centre for Science Studies and Teknologi, Innovasjon og Kultur, Oslo.
