Postgraduate Forum on Genetics and Society (PFGS)Date: 11 December-12 December 2008 Time: 9.00-5.00 pm Event: Postgraduate Forum on Genetics and Society (PFGS) Colloquium 12 Theme: "Social and biosciences - a critical collaboration" Dates: 11th and 12th December 2008 Deadline for registration: 7th November 2008 Location: Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS), Lancaster University, Lancaster The annual PFGS Colloquia are large scale meetings which combine postgraduate presentations with keynote speakers and capacity building workshops. At these colloquia, members are able to, rehearse ideas by presenting their work-in-progress, discuss the research of others in a supportive and constructive environment. 2008 marks the 10th anniversary of the first PFGS colloquium, which was also held at Lancaster University, providing the ideal opportunity to scrutinize the last decade of research within the field and critically examine where Genomics is currently located in relation to social and bioscience debates. The theme of the 2008 colloquium is one that will allow current post graduate researchers in the area of genomics and society to consider many of the ongoing developments in the field whilst also allowing for considerable reflection around where these developments originated as the positioning of genomics shifts in relation to the social and natural sciences. The programme includes: -Panel session with PFGS original members Dr. Richard Tutton (Lancaster University), Dr. Niall Scott (Uclan) and Dr. Adam Hedgecoe (University of Sussex) -Student presentations -Presentations by Dr. Paul Oldham and Dr Dita Wickins-Drazilova (both Lancaster University) To attend you must download and submit a registration form. The colloquium is open to all postgraduate students and recent post docs in any discipline with an interest in this research area. All accommodation and refreshments are provided and travel bursaries of up to £60 per student are available. *****To attend you must register.
