'Adoption of Technology Enhanced Learning in Higher Education: Influences of Institutional Policies and Practices'

Dr Gale Parchoma, CSALT, Department of Educational Research, Lancaster University.

This seminar will present the findings of a study of the influences of organisational structures, cultures, pedagogies, and economies (reward systems) on faculty choices around adoption of TEL into teaching practice. Nine case studies in a five-year (2000-2005) government-funded programme, designed to encourage TEL adoption in HE, are reported. Participants' perspectives on the influences of university policies and practices on their choices are explored. Implications for organisational e-learning initiatives are posited.
