Using Mobile Phones for Field Research - LRDG Seminar

With over 4 billion mobile phones subscribers in the world they are undoubtedly the most important piece of consumer technology and are supporting an ever increasing range of activities. Further, as the current generation of mobile phones are capable of recording users' interaction through, text, image, video, and voice and when coupled with internal or external sensors they are capable of providing researchers with new methods of capturing, extracting, and synchronizing aspects of human activity. In this talk I will provide examples of the increasing range of possibilities where mobile phones can be used to support research in real world scenarios.Venue: Institute for Advanced Studies MR1
