Alison Duxbury is an Associate Professor in the Law School at the University of Melbourne. She holds bachelor degrees in Arts and Laws and a PhD from the University of Melbourne, and a Master of Law from the University of Cambridge, where she was a Pegasus Cambridge Commonwealth Scholar.Alison's PhD explored the role of human rights and democracy in determining the participationof states in international organisations. She was admitted to practise as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1994.

Alison is a member of the Australian Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Committee (Victorian Division), the Asia Pacific Centre for Military Law, and the International Advisory Commission of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative. She is the Convener of the University of Melbourne's Human Rights Forum, an interdisciplinary body established to promote human rights. Alison has been a visiting fellow at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies in London and the Lauterpacht Research Centre for International Law at theUniversity of Cambridge.She is currently teaching at the Centre for Transnational Legal Studies in London.
