States' Extraterritorial Obligations Related to Economic, Social and Cultural RightsDate: 9 September 2009 Time: 5.30 pm Venue: Lancaster House Hotel States' Extraterritorial Obligations Related to Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Lancaster University, 9-11 September 2009
Over the past two years, a Consortium of Academic Institutions and Non-governmental organisations have been working on documenting negative human rights effects of states' (or state supported) actions in foreign countries, and to develop the theoretical understanding of the international law implications of extraterritorial human rights obligations. As part of this project an international conference will be held at Lancaster University to present interim research results and to discuss with a wider audience the implications of the findings for future work on extraterritorial human rights obligations.
