Analysing the language of interviewsDate: 30 October 2009 Time: 10.00 am-16.30 pm Venue: Institute for Advanced Studies. meeting room 1 What is it? This workshop for Qualitative Research practitioners, sponsored by the Economic and Social Research Council, focuses on how we can analyse the language of research transcripts to develop insights and improve interviewing and moderating practice. It brings together researchers from a range of approaches, topics, and disciplines. Most of the day is devoted to sessions in which participants can do their own analysis of excerpts from interview transcripts.
Who might be interested? The workshop is designed for research students and research associates, both those who see themselves as doing some form of discourse analysis, and those who take other approaches and who are just considering whether some of these techniques might usefully supplement what they already do.

Who is organising the workshop? Greg Myers is a discourse analyst and Sofia Lampropoulou is a sociolinguist, both at Lancaster University.
