Divides: Things, Practices, Politics Discussant: Tim Dant Frank Trentmann will be developing ideas and arguments discussed in his two papers, "Crossing Divides: Consumption and Globalization in History" Journal of Consumer Culture 9/2, pp. 187-220 and Materiality in the Future of History: Things, Practices, and Politics' Journal of British Studies, 48/2 (April 2009), pp. 283-307. Expect lively discussion of the relation between history and sociology, of the 'turn' to things, and of practices, institutions and politics. Sociology Seminar Series information Frank will reflect on a selection of his own published papers with Tim. They will be discussing the selected paper/s but not re-iterating the content, so please download and read the papers before the seminar. Download papers:
