Sociology Department Research Day with Steve WoolgarDate: 11 May 2010 Time: 13.30-18.00 and onwards Venue: Bowland North Seminar Room 23
DisobedieNce Day The Sociology department's 2010 summer term workshop focuses on the topic of Disobedience. The programme consists of an introductory presentation on 'ontological disobedience', by Professor Steve Woolgar from the Said Business School, Oxford University, followed by a programme of shorter comments, provocations and interventions that address the political, aesthetic, ethical, auditory, technological, methodological, and social aspects of the topic. The aim is to generate fresh ideas and perspectives through the conjunction of contrasting interpretations and approaches. There will be an opportunity to discuss these contributions and reflect on links and gaps between them in a more or less orderly fashion. The workshop will continue over wine, beans and chilli - in 'God's Kitchen' in the Sociology Department.
