ImaginationLancaster presents a lecture by David Constantine of Motivation UK "Is he a Peasant or just Abnormal?" Mobility for Inclusion - Design for mobility solutions in less resourced settings Good design is needed in the provision of equipment to disabled people in developing countries. Effective development programmes need to work towards social inclusion of disabled people, despite the many challenges this may pose, and good design can be a key factor in this process. David will discuss how Motivation started with a simple design and turned it into fully functioning programmes delivering quality of life for people with disabilities. Wednesday 2 December 2009 Drinks reception 6.00pm, followed by lecture 6.30 - 7.30pm Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) LT3, Lancaster University David Constantine is the Co-Founder and Executive Officer of Motivation UK (http://www.motivation.org.uk/). Since 1991 Motivation has worked in over 30 countries worldwide and developed over 50 designs of low-cost mobility solutions. It is one of the few organisations to deal with both the provision of disability products and services and the wider social and economic needs of people with mobility disabilities.
