Seminar Series - Hallucinating Integration: Practice Simulation or Practice Innovation?

Date: 3 November 2010 Time: 12.30 - 2.00 p.m.

Venue: IAS MR1

Dianne Dawes

Doctoral Student, Educational Research, Lancaster University

This seminar examines the concept of integration as a change in practice for Health and Social Care. Integration is presented as a development from policy rhetoric to service implementation and practice interpretation. The Single Assessment Process is used as an example of a bridging tool, developed as a practice mechanism for promoting integration. The focus of the Single Assessment process is used as a comparative devise for analysing different contexts of integrative activities. This perspective offers a range of typologies and dimensions of integrative practices and hypothesises how they might be useful tools for assessing the strength or weakness of integration in a range of practice contexts.
