CeMoRe Workshop - Lego Serious Play and Driving PracticesDate: 3 November 2010 Time: 9.00am to 5.00 pm Venue: Bowland North B135 A one day workshop brought together by CeMoRe and the 'Transitions in Practice' working group to ask "How can we address the gap between ideas and theories of sustainability and the situated practice of car-driving?" through the method of Lego Serious Play. The aim of the day was to explore the connections (or disconnections) between everyday practices and the abstract quality of sustainability, and to imagine how these relationships might be changed or re-made in alternative ways. Lego Serious Play offers innovative tools of metaphorical modelling combined with a practice of 'thinking through making' to work through and reflect on these problems. It uses the physical properties of models to make unusual connections and juxtapositions, provoking discussion and offering new perspectives for thinking through questions that have otherwise been difficult to address.
