Best Practice in ELT INSET: Survey Results

Abstract

In this talk, we will present and discuss the survey questionnaire findings from our recent British Council ELT Research Award study concerning 'Best Practice in ELT INSET'. The questionnaire was administered to approximately 400 state sector, basic education level English language teachers and trainers in the Philippines, and covered a variety of aspects of the planning, delivery and 'after-life' of ELT INSET. As will be seen, the responses indicate a strong consensus of views regarding perceptions of a number of aspects of 'best practice' in each of the three main areas. It is hoped that the overall findings will be of use in guiding the development of ELT INSET in similar situations elsewhere.
