Professor Linda Woodhead
Professor Department: Religious Studies Associated research centres and groups: Centre for Gender and Women's Studies Current TeachingBecause of my secondment to the Religion and Society Programme, I will not be involved in undergraduate teaching until 2013. Research InterestsI am a sociologist of religion who is interested in religion in contemporary western societies. My research to date has focused on Christianity and alternative spiritualities in Britain and the USA. Much of my work deals with the themes of: For more information see my research page. Potential Doctoral ProposalsI will have limited availability for PhD supervision until 2013, but am happy to consider proposals in the area of Sociology of Religion, Religion in Modernity, Spirituality, Christianity, Religion and Gender, Religion and Emotions, Religious change. I continue to be based at Lancaster University. This £12.3 million Programme is funded by the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) and the ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council). It commissions research projects on various themes related to religion and society.
