Lancaster Lawyer Comments on Proposed Changes to Dissolution of Parliament

Dr Fergal Davis, a lecturer on Constitutional Law at Lancaster University Law School, has written on the proposed changes to the rules on the dissolution of parliament. Dr Davis argues that the significance of the proposed 55% rule has been overstated. Political reality would ensure that no government could abuse the 55% rule and in reality the proposal is designed to avoid potential constitutional crises whereby the Crown becomes enmeshed in politics.
