Lancaster Staff at the celebration of 100 years of German Sociological AssociationDate: 18 October 2010 This year, the German Sociological Association celebrated 100 years of sometimes turbulent history. Two Lancaster sociologists were invited to give plenary lectures at its Congress in Frankfurt. Professor Sylvia Walby (Sociology) delivered a plenary on 'Complex Inequalities and Contested Modernities in a Global Era', synthesizing much of her recent work. Professor Bob Jessop (Sociology) delivered the opening keynote on a panel on 'Varieties of Capitalism in Crisis', drawing on work connected with his current ESRC Research Professorship.
