Nigel Whiteley Memorial SeminarDate: 3 February 2011 Nigel Whiteley Memorial Seminar - Ruskin Research Seminar Series Nigel Whiteley, who died in October 2010, was Professor of Visual Arts at Lancaster, and presented the first ever Ruskin Seminar paper, 'Ruskin and Design', on 1st February 1990; we are pleased to hold our 21st birthday seminar in his memory. Stephen Wildman will read the essay by Nigel Whiteley, '"Falsehood in a Ciceronian dialect"? : the "Ruskinian" tradition, Modernism, and the rise of the classical tradition in contemporary architecture', from Michael Wheeler and Nigel Whiteley (eds.), The Lamp of Memory: Ruskin, Tradition and Architecture (1992), with additional illustrations. The Seminar will take place in the FASS Building Meeting Room 2/3, 4.00pm - 6.00pm. All welcome
