Language Testing Research Colloquium (LTRC), Ann Arbor, 23-25 June 2011

Our language testing team were well represented at the Language Testing Research Colloquium (LTRC) conference in Ann Arbor, 23-25 June 2011.

Three staff members gave presentations:

Charles Alderson - 'The diagnosis of reading in a second or foreign language: What factors are involved?', presentation co-authored with Ari Huhta, Lea Nieminen, and Riikka Ullakonoja
Tineke Brunfaut - 'EAP listening task difficulty: The impact of task variables, working memory and listening anxiety', presentation co-authored with Andrea Révész.
Dianne Wall - 'Establishing evidence of construct: A case study', presentation co-authored with Barry O'Sullivan and Cathy Taylor.

Two MA students gave poster presentations based on their MA dissertation research:

David Ryan - 'Pushing the envelope, moving towards democratic assessment in a non-democratic context: A case-study in Mexico'
Eve Ryan - 'It takes two to tango: examining the collaboration between test developers and language informants'

Thom Kiddlewas presented with the 2010 Caroline Clapham IELTS Masters Award for his MA dissertation entitled "The effect of mode of response on a semi-direct test of oral proficiency."
