'Edgelands' on BBC Radio 4Date: 25 April 2011 Prof Paul Farley's new non-fiction book, published by Jonathan Cape: Edgelands: Journeys into England's True Wilderness, co-authored with fellow poet Michael Symmons-Roberts, has been serialised as a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week and will be broadcast throughout the week beginning Monday 25th April (9.45am, Monday - Friday). Edgelands has already received widespread attention: reviews from the Financial Times, Telegraph and the Evening Standard are summarised in the Guardian's Book Reviews Round-uip (19th February 2011). Edgelands is described as '... a highly inventive survey and celebration of landfill sites. wastelands, sewage plants, retail parks, gold ranges and other features of "England's true wilderness"'; 'The prose sparkles with arresting phrases and images, as one would hope from such well-established poets'; 'This is an original, surprising and rather wonderful addition to our literature of place'. Paul and Michael will also be appearing at many national and international festivals and events throughout the year.
