PPR Scholarships 2012

Date: 12 March 2012

Thanks to a recent generous donation by an alumnus from PPR, the department can now offer a limited number of £3000 undergraduate academic scholarships. In 2012 we have four scholarships to offer.

Because Lancaster University already offers academic scholarships to students who make Lancaster their first choice, and who achieve A*AA (or equivalent) or above, the PPR scholarships will be awarded to those students whose grades do not render them eligible for the Lancaster University academic scholarship, but who, in the view of the PPR scholarship panel, show exceptional academic promise.

The scholarships for 2012 will be allocated by subject area as follows:

ONE scholarship for the following schemes of study:

· L200 Politics

· L250 Politics and International Relations

· LL92 Peace Studies and International Relations

· L201 Politics (Study Abroad)

ONE scholarship for the following schemes of study:

· VL52 Philosophy and Politics

· V500 Philosophy

TWO scholarships for the following schemes of study

· V627 Religious Studies

· VV65 Philosophy and Religious Studies

· VV56 Ethics, Philosophy, Religion

· LV26 Politics and Religious Studies

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for consideration for the PPR scholarship the candidate:

· must have made one of the degree schemes within PPR noted above his/ her firm UCAS choice;

· must not be an immediate relative of the academic or administrative staff of the Department.

The PPR scholarship does not affect eligibility for means-tested Lancaster University bursaries, or other national means-tested bursaries and grants (for example, a student in receipt of the PPR scholarship, from a lower-income family, might receive the PPR scholarship AND a means tested Lancaster bursary, and additional national support via bursary schemes and grants).

Application and Selection

There is no application form for applying for the PPR scholarship. All applicants to PPR who fulfil the requirements mentioned above will be automatically reviewed by the PPR scholarship panel. A final decision will be made in September and successful candidates will be informed.

Please note: the intention of the scholarship is to give financial help throughout the undergraduate programme. Therefore, the scholarship will be divided into three annual payments, of £1000 each, over the period of the recipient's 3 year undergraduate degree programme. Continued receipt of the PPR scholarship is conditional upon satisfactory academic progression and upon the recipient remaining registered for one of the eligible degree programmes within PPR listed above.
