The Academy of Social Sciences has conferred the award of Academician on Professor Tony McEnery

The Academy of Social Sciences has conferred the award of Academician on Professor Tony McEnery, Dean of FASS.
In 2005 he was seconded to the Arts and Humanities Research Council where he acted as its first director of research until 2008. At the AHRC, amongst other innovations, he pioneered the introduction of research council doctoral training centres in the form of 'block grant partnership' awards. He has held and worked on many grants in his career, including those awarded by the AHRC, ESRC, EPSRC, EU and the Leverhulme Trust. He has worked with a wide range of industrial partners including Blackberry, British Telecom, IBM and Nokia.
The award will be conferred at the next AGM of the Academy of Social Sciences on 5 July.
