Lancaster Writing Programme student Sophie Duffy publishes second novel: This Holey LifeDate: 14 September 2012 Sophie Duffy, a former Lancaster Writing Programme student, has recently publisher her second novel. This Holey Life tells the story of a reluctant curate's wife who is "struggling to come to terms with her own bereavement and her husband's new-found faith," until a knock on the door on Boxing Day "brings her annoying big brother, his teenage son and a cello into her life, turning her world upside down" (Amazon). Reviews for Sophie's first novel, The Generation Game (2011), describe her as: "A born storyteller with a gift for characterization, she writes with warmth, lovely earthy detail and a pathos which keeps a lump lodged in the throat...a cracking first novel"; and "Sophie Duffy is a talent to be reckoned with. She writes with empathy, clarity and huge skill." News website: http://www.sophieduffy.com
