Krys Burchnall of IPPP granted ESRC Interdisciplinary Quota Award

Date: 1 May 2006

Krys Burchnall, a current MA Philosophy student within IPPP, has been granted a ESRC/Lancaster University interdisciplinary quota award for PhD study of 'Crime Science', a new multi-disciplinary approach in criminology.

The project will be jointly supervised by Applied Social Science (ASS), including criminology, as well as Science and Technology Studies (STS) and philosophy within IPPP. The thesis will discuss whether crime science can justify the resources and status currently being attributed to it, by evaluating it from criminological, psychological and philosophical perspectives.

Krys's academic background is in Forensic Psychology and Philosophy, having previously completed a BSc in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Staffordshire, and an MSc in Forensic Psychology at the University of Surrey.
