CAB's Campaigner of the YearDate: 9 October 2007 Lancaster Graduate is CAB's "Campaigner of the Year"
Lancaster University Law School graduate Gemma Popejoy (LL.B., 2007), has won the "Campaigner of the Year" award in the 2007 Citizens' Advice Bureaux Volunteer of the Year Awards. The awards are decided on by a panel of independent judges including representatives of Volunteering England, Barnardos and YouthNet. The Chief Executive of the CAB, David Harker, said that "All our volunteers are amazing individuals who give up their time to make a contribution to the local community. But those who have picked up these awards have shown an extra special commitment. The Volunteer of the Year Awards gives the whole Citizens Advice service a chance to celebrate their success."
Volunteering with the Lancaster CAB is a key part of Lancaster's student Law Society's pro bono publico programme, and this award underlines the commitment of the School's students to work for the benefit of the community, and the very real benefits and satisfactions students themselves get out of this activity.
Lancaster University Law School would like to add its congratulations to Gemma on the tremendous achievement of winning this national award. This item was reported in: Lancaster Guardian on 05/10/2007
