First prize book award

Date: 8 November 2007

Dr Carolyn Jackson (Educational Research) has won first prize from the Society for Educational Studies for books published in 2006 for her book 'Lads and Ladettes in School: Gender and a Fear of Failure' (published by Open University Press). The award was presented at the Annual Seminar of the Society for Educational Studies in London on 8th November.

All major publishers were invited to submit recommendations for the award.

The book prize committee use the following criteria in making their judgement:
