LICA is delighted to invite applications for THREE Postgraduate studentships.

Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) is delighted to invite applications for THREE Postgraduate studentships:

FULL MA BLOCK GRANT PARTNERSHIP STUDENTSHIP (RPM) covering fees and a maintenance stipend of £9,040 over 1 year to study Dance, Drama, Theatre or Performance on the MA in Contemporary Arts Research (CAR). FULL PHD BLOCK GRANT PARTNERSHIP STUDENTSHIP covering fees and a maintenance stipend of £13,290 p.a. for 3 years to study Dance, Drama, Theatre or Performance for the PhD in Contemporary Arts. FEES-ONLY PHD BURSARY (UK/EU rates only) covering 3 years of full-time study in any discipline in LICA for the PhD in Contemporary Arts. Students of any nationality can apply. LICA has a national and international reputation for research into:

Acting theory; African Theatre; arts management and cultural policy; Avant-garde Theatre and Contemporary Experimental Performance; Contemporary British Drama, Theatre and Performance; Contemporary Dance and Physical Theatre; choreography and choreology; directing, dramaturgy and devising; European Theatre and Drama; Feminist Theatre and contemporary plays and performances by women; Intercultural Theatre, and Theatre for Development; Live Art; Media in Performance; cultural, poststructuralist, postmodern, phenomenological, feminist and gender theory; performance writing and playwriting; Political Theatre; Postdramatic Theatre; Site-specific and Environmental Performance; Television Drama; Translation and translation theory.

LICA continues to welcome applications to any of the above degrees and for the Dance, Theatre and Performance, Live Art and Creative Producing Pathways on the MA in Professional Contemporary Arts Practice (PROCAP). This course prepares thinking practitioners for portfolio careers in the arts, in which they are not only artists but often also their own first curators, fundraisers, administrators and marketing managers.
