International Conference at Lancaster

States' Extraterritorial Obligations Related to Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

A major international conference will take place at Lancaster from September 9-11 2009. About 100 participants representing civil society organisations, academia, national and international civil service including UN experts, will meet to analyse findings of an interdisciplinary and interprofessional Consortium on extraterritorial human rights obligations. The Consortium has been working on documenting extraterritorial human rights effect of states' activities over the past two years. The conference will assess the findings, and prepare work on authoritative principles to be adopted in 2010.
