Lancaster Lawyer Questions Organised Crime Policy in The Guardian

Date: 14 July 2009

Dr Fergal Davis, a civil liberties specialist at Lancaster University Law School, has questioned government policies in Australia, Ireland and the UK which appear to extend draconian counter-terrorism legislation for use against organsied crime and 'bikie' gangs. In particular, he argues that such legislation is often unnecessary and is indicative of a 'moral panic'.
