David Tyfield Awarded Grant to Study Geoengineering ImaginariesDate: 16 February 2010 David Tyfield has been awarded an Early Career Small Grant from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to study the implicit assumptions or 'imaginaries' within geo-engineering research in the UK, which is considered to be a leader in the field. Together with post-doc RA Maia Galarraga (Sociology & Philosophy), who will lead the fieldwork, and Rebecca Ellis (Geography) and Alison Stone (Philosophy), the project will involve interviews with climate scientists and engineers in order to understand how research in their area takes place, what presuppostions and motivations underpin their research and in what ways do future expectations shape their research. The project will run for 1 year from 1st Feb 2010. For further information, please contact David (d.tyfield@lancaster.ac.uk) or Maia (m.galarrage@lancaster.ac.uk).
